VERNON - The City of Vernon will be hosting a Day of Mourning ceremony at City Hall at 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, to honour those workers in Canada who have been injured or killed on the job. Speakers will include North Okanagan-Shuswap member of Parliament Mel Arnold and Vernon Mayor Akbal Mund.
In 2015, 122 workers lost their lives on the job in B.C. due to workplace injury and disease. Province-wide ceremonies will be held to remember these workers.
