There were 180 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. in the last 24 hours, including 39 in the Interior Health region.

At the same time, the provincial vaccination rate for those over the age of 18 getting their first vaccinations creeped up to 75.1 per cent, with 73.1 per cent of those over 12 being vaccinated, according to a joint statement issued today, June 11, by provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.

"As long as we increase our contacts in a slow and measured way, register and get fully vaccinated, and continue to use our layers of protection, we can confidently move forward with B.C.'s Restart plan,” the release states. Details of the next phase of the restart plan will be announced Monday, June 14.

Of the new cases, 107 were in the Fraser Health region, 11 in Vancouver Coastal, 13 on Vancouver Island and 10 in the Northern Health region.

There was one more death, bringing the provincial total to 1,730.

There are 1,880 active cases in B.C. with 162 people in hospital, 45 of whom are in intensive care.
