The Latest: 2nd man sentenced for stalking TV anchor

PHILADELPHIA - The Latest on sentencing for the stalkers of two TV news anchors (all times local):

4:30 p.m.

For the second time in two days, a man has been sentenced for stalking a Philadelphia TV news anchor.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1P1guVl ) 39-year-old Havertown resident John Hart was sentenced Thursday to 2 1/2 to 5 years in prison for stalking and harassing Erika von Tiehl, formerly of KYW-TV. Prosecutors say the stalking began after she dumped him in 2011.

Judge Gwendolyn Bright told Hart his pattern of behaviour must stop. Hart has several arrests and convictions for similar crimes.

Hart didn't apologize for his actions but instead thanked his loved ones for helping him take ownership of his faults.

On Wednesday, Christopher Nilan was sentenced to more than a decade of probation for stalking another female KYW-TV reporter. But he vowed to resume stalking her after that.

A man has promised to resume stalking a Philadelphia TV news reporter just as soon as his probation for doing so expires in about 15 years.

The Delaware County Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1sAEi89 ) reports 32-year-old Christopher Nilan made that promise at Wednesday's sentencing in Delaware County.

Police say Nilan became obsessed with a female KYW-TV reporter and kept trying to contact her, sometimes through another male reporter at the Philadelphia CBS affiliate.

A station spokeswoman isn't commenting. Nilan's attorney stressed that his client never threatened to harm the reporter.

Nilan told the judge Wednesday, "I'm not going to give it up. I want to be with her. I'm the only person who can protect her."

He must spend 23 months on court monitoring, including outpatient mental health treatment, followed by 13 years' probation.
