'Outlander' star, producer wear kilts to promote their new show

PASADENA, Calif. - Actor Sam Heughan (HEW-in) and producer Ronald Moore are promoting their new TV series "Outlander" by showing a little leg.

Each wore kilts Friday to a news conference about the show, which debuts on Starz this summer. Based on a book series that mixes romance and science fiction, it features a World War II nurse who is transported in time to 18th Century Scotland.

Moore said he rented a kilt for the first time the cast read the script, found he liked it and ordered a few of his own.

Book author Diana Gabaldon says she understands anticipation for the show. Fans identify with the nurse and, as she put it, "they sort of want to lick" the ruggedly handsome Heughan.
