NEW YORK, N.Y. - The action franchise "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is off to a strong start for ABC. But "Lucky 7" is not so lucky.

The Nielsen company said "Marvel's Agents" was seen by 12.2 million viewers for its debut Tuesday night. More importantly for ABC, the show had the best ratings of any new broadcast drama in four years among the 18-to-49-year-old demographic — the age group TV executives consider most important.

But the strong start is no surprise. The research firm Networked Insights, taking readings from social media over the summer, concluded that "Marvel's Agents" was the most anticipated new program of the fall television season.

Meanwhile, the TV By The Numbers website reported that the 10 p.m. debut of ABC's "Lucky 7" was the network's lowest rated drama premiere ever.
