Judge who scolded Trump confirmed for US appellate seat

CHICAGO - A U.S. district judge who scolded Donald Trump as he testified in a 2013 civil trial on the sale of condos at Chicago Trump Tower has been confirmed for a seat on the Chicago-based 7th U.S. District Court of Appeals.

That scolding didn't stop now-President Trump from nominating Amy St. Eve in February. The Senate approved her nomination 91-0 Monday.

On the witness stand, Trump repeatedly clashed with a lawyer for retiree Jacqueline Goldberg. Goldberg accused Trump of enticing her to buy two luxury condos by promising profit sharing. She said he yanked the offer after she committed to the purchase.

Trump and the attorney continually raised their voices and interrupted each other. St. Eve once told them to stop their verbal "boxing." The visibly exasperated judge also told them to "get control" of themselves.

Jurors later concluded Trump hadn't cheated Goldberg.
