Veteran cast led by Carolee Carmello to star in 'Tuck Everlasting' musical on Broadway in 2016

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Broadway veterans Carolee Carmello, Fred Applegate, Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Terrence Mann will try to make "Tuck Everlasting" live forever on Broadway.

Producers of the new musical said Thursday that much of the cast that helped it make its world premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta earlier this year have joined its production on Broadway. It will star newcomer Sarah Charles Lewis as Winnie Foster.

The tale of a young girl who befriends a unique family that has gained eternal life will open on Broadway in April at the Broadhurst Theatre under the direction and choreography of Casey Nicholaw.

"It comes from the children's section of the library, but the story is very potent and the themes are really universal," said Tony Award winning costume designer Gregg Barnes. "It's really about the circle of life."

The musical is based on the popular 1975 children's book of the same title by Natalie Babbitt, which became a Disney film in 2002. The story is by Claudia Shear, a Tony Award-nominee for "Dirty Blonde," and has music by Chris Miller and lyrics by Nathan Tysen, who collaborated on "The Burnt Part Boys."
