Activist led Dallas protest the day of prison release

DALLAS - The leader of the Dallas group behind a July march at which five police officers were killed by a sniper has led a downtown Dallas protest rally the day he left prison.

Dominique Alexander led the Next Generation Action Network march on July 7 at which the officers were killed. He led a rally Thursday night to protest the fatal police shooting of black men in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Alexander's probation for an unrelated charge of injury to a child was revoked in August. His release early Thursday from a potential five-year sentence came after a judge recalculated time already served.

Alexander is an ordained Baptist preacher and convicted felon whose uncle died in a police-involved shooting.
