NBC's football grabbed top ratings spot, but CBS was most-watched network last week

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Football handed NBC the week's most-watched broadcast, but CBS was the most-watched network overall in prime time.

The NFL faceoff between Dallas and Philadelphia brought more than 24 million viewers to NBC. But CBS could claim 13 of the week's Top 20 programs, according to the Nielsen ratings company. These included the holiday classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" (ranked 11th place) and the annual "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" (18th place).

On ABC, Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People of 2014" telecast drew about 7.8 million viewers, down by more than a million from last year's edition, which at the time was billed as her final installment of the specials that have aired since 1993.

For the week, CBS was on top with an average 8.6 million viewers. Runner-up NBC had 8.0 million viewers, followed by ABC with 5.4 million and Fox with 4.2 million. Univision had 2.5 million, while CW had 2.1 million, trailed by ION Television with 1.3 million and Telemundo with 1.1 million.

ESPN remained the week's most popular cable network, averaging 2.9 million viewers in prime time. Hallmark had 2.05 million and ABC Family had 1.96 million,

NBC's "Nightly News" led the evening newscasts with an average of 9.4 million viewers. ABC's "World News" was second with 8.7 million and the "CBS Evening News" had 7.4 million viewers.

For the week of Dec. 8-14, the top 10 shows, their networks and viewerships: NFL Football: Dallas at Philadelphia, NBC, 24.25 million; "Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kick," NBC, 17.51 million; "The Big Bang Theory," CBS, 15.49 million; "The OT," Fox, 12.75 million; "Football Night in America, Part 3," NBC, 12.39 million; "60 Minutes," CBS, 11.38 million; "The Voice" (Tuesday), NBC, 11.19 million; "Blue Bloods," CBS, 11.09 million; "The Voice" (Monday), NBC, 10.84 million; "Mom," CBS, 10.75 million.
