The Latest: Memorial held for 2nd New Mexico shooting victim

FARMINGTON, N.M. - The Latest on funeral for a 17-year-old student killed in a New Mexico school shooting rampage (all times local):

2:25 p.m.

Hundreds of people gathered in northwestern New Mexico for a memorial service for a 17-year-old student killed in a school shooting rampage in the small city of Aztec.

Casey Jordan Marquez was a cheerleader who planned to travel to Florida to perform as part of a cheer squad during the upcoming Orange Bowl.

Marquez and 17-year-old Francisco "Paco" Fernandez were killed on Dec. 7 when a gunman disguised as a student opened fire inside Aztec High School.

Many of the mourners at Sunday's memorial for Marquez were cheerleaders from all over New Mexico's San Juan County.

Black and orange balloons, reflecting the school's colours, adorned the room where the service was held at San Juan College.

A memorial for Fernandez was held Friday in Farmington.

A crowd is expected in northwestern New Mexico for a memorial service and bonfire to remember a 17-year-old student killed in a school shooting rampage this month in the small city of Aztec.

Sunday's service is for Casey Jordan Marquez, a cheerleader who planned to travel to Florida to perform as part of a cheer squad during the upcoming Orange Bowl

Marquez and Francisco "Paco" Fernandez, who was also 17, were killed on Dec. 7 when a gunman disguised as a student opened fire inside Aztec High School.

Authorities have said 21-year-old William Atchison planned the attack but that the victims were not specifically targeted.

A memorial for Fernandez was held Friday.

People are being asked to write messages to put on the wood for the bonfire.
