Records: Protection order granted to gospel singer Marvin Sapp against missing Mich. doctor

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Court documents show that Grammy-nominated gospel singer Marvin Sapp received a personal protection order against a 30-year-old Michigan doctor about three months before she went missing.

Sapp alleged that Teleka Patrick claimed to be his wife and won a protection order in September. It's effective until March 18.

Patrick's car was found in a ditch on Dec. 5 along Interstate 94 in northern Indiana, about 100 miles from the hospital where she was a resident in Kalamazoo. Her wallet, cash and identification were in the car.

Investigators say she'd tried to check into a Kalamazoo hotel earlier that day.

Her family says regardless of Patrick's emotional state, they believe she encountered danger because it's unlike her to not contact family or friends.

Police and the FBI are investigating her disappearance.
