The surest bet at Sunday's Golden Globes? Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

The duo will again lead the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's annual Beverly Hills banquet, where stars gather in a boozy dress rehearsal for the Oscars.

The HFPA — a group of mostly freelance journalists known to be swayed by celebrity — has often been a punch line to Hollywood's awards season. But this year's nominees are altogether respectable.

Favourites include the con-artist caper "American Hustle" and the unflinching epic "12 Years a Slave." The films and their much-nominated casts lead with seven nominations each.

Several other films are prominently in the mix, too, such as the space odyssey "Gravity" and the 1960s folk tale "Inside Llewyn Davis."

The Globes will air live on NBC from 8-11 p.m.
