CHICAGO - Lawyers for Dennis Hastert say the former U.S. House speaker "adamantly denies" he sodomized a fourth-grader in a bathroom stall in the early 1970s.
In a legal brief filed this week in Illinois' Kendall County Circuit Court, Hastert attorney John Ellis argues the lawsuit filed by the alleged victim should be dismissed.
The suit, filed in May, said the attack occurred either in 1973 or 1974, when the alleged victim was in fourth grade.
Ellis contends the law bars the victim, named Richard Doe in the lawsuit, from making claims more than two years after he turned 18.
Hastert pleaded guilty to banking violations in a hush-money case that revealed he sexually abused at least four high school students. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison. He left prison in July.
