MARIETTA, Ga. - A 64-year-old Georgia woman has pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the death of her son's estranged wife.
Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds says in a statement that Elizabeth Wall pleaded guilty Friday and was sentenced to life in prison for the 2016 killing.
Thirty-five-year-old kindergarten teacher Jenna Wall was shot four times while her young sons sat in her mother-in-law's vehicle.
The shooting took place in Jenna Wall's parents' home near Atlanta, where she was living after separating from Jerrod Wall. The couple shared custody of the boys.
Reynolds' spokeswoman, Kim Isaza, says Elizabeth Wall told the judge she has suffered since her 20s from depression and anxiety and has been treated off and on for those conditions.
Isaza says motive was not discussed during the hearing.
