SHOW LOW, Ariz. - The Latest on the shooting death of a man suspected of killing a police officer in Arizona:
11:20 a.m.
Authorities say they're trying to piece together circumstances of the fatal shooting of an eastern Arizona police officer. The suspect in that shooting later was shot to death by officers following a manhunt and standoff.
Show Low police Officer Darrin Reed was fatally wounded Tuesday afternoon outside a fast-food restaurant, and a Navajo County sheriff's official says 36-year-old Daniel Erickson was killed early Wednesday when he fired at SWAT team members who then returned fire.
Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jim Molesa says a 14-year-old girl was with Erickson at his rental cabin in Pinetop-Lakeside during a standoff that lasted about seven hours. Molesa says authorities considered the girl a hostage and don't know whether she was a woman reportedly with Erickson when Reed was shot.
Molesa says the girl was treated at a hospital for minor injuries from glass shards.

Authorities say a man suspected of killing an Arizona police officer was fatally shot by officers who had surrounded a cabin where he was holed up.
KNXV-TV in Phoenix reports (http://bit.ly/2eU4dBC) authorities say 36-year-old Daniel Erickson shot at police after more than 6 hours of negotiations late Tuesday, and officers returned fire on the man who was barricaded inside a cabin near Show Low, 180 miles northeast of Phoenix.
Police said officer Darrin Reed was taken to a hospital in critical condition after the 1:30 p.m. shooting outside a fast-food restaurant and later died, police said. There was no immediate word on a motive.
Police said Erickson was a convicted felon who has served two prison sentences in Arizona — a four-year term for a drug conviction in 2009 and five months for an endangerment conviction in 2007.
