Unoccupied Rutland building damaged by fire

KELOWNA - An early morning fire at an unoccupied building in Rutland caused major damage today.

Just before 3 a.m. today, March 9, a security employee noticed smoke coming from a building on Highway 33 and called 911.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and extinguished the fire, which had spread into the attic of the building and caused major damage.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined but the scene has been secured by RCMP until investigators arrive later this morning.
