VERNON - A woman was taken to hospital after a two vehicle collision at a train crossing north of Vernon yesterday evening.

RCMP say at about 5:15 p.m., Feb. 21, a 56-year-old woman was stopped at the flashing lights at a railroad crossing at Highway 97 and Grandview Flats Road in Spallumcheen when she was hit by a van.

A 32-year-old woman driving the van couldn't stop in time and side-swiped the stopped car, according to an RCMP media release. She was taken to hopsital with minor injuries.

Police say both vehicles had to be towed from the scene which resulted in the highway being closed for a short time.
