SALMON ARM - A driver had to be cut from his vehicle yesterday after an accident on the Trans Canada Highway near Salmon Arm.

Around 3:30 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 9 a grey passenger car lost control while travelling westbound on Highway 1 in Tappen, north of Salmon Arm, due to snow on the road. It crossed the media and hit an oncoming Chevrolet van head-on.

Both vehicles were badly damaged and both drivers had to be taken to hospital in Salmon Arm for serious but not life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van had to be cut from the vehicle by rescue crews. The highway had to be closed for over an hour while the extraction took place.

The drivers, both from Salmon Arm, were the only people in the vehicles when they crashed.
