Two men have been arrested in connection with a carjacking in Kamloops yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to a report of a woman being robbed of her vehicle and phone at knifepoint at a gas station parking lot in the 800 block of Columbia Street West at around 4:20 p.m. yesterday, Sept. 6, according to an RCMP media release
The suspects fled in the woman’s black Mazda.
The carjacking led to a large police presence with Kamloops City, Tk’emlúps Rural, Southeast District Traffic and Crime Reduction Unit officers all working to track down and arrest the culprits.
“Thanks to the response of multiple police units throughout the city, police quickly located the vehicle just off of Highway 5 and surrounded it on G and M Road,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn at Kamloops RCMP in the release.
The suspects were two local Kamloops men in their 30s.
The men were arrested and held in police custody. Both men will appear in court later today, Sept. 7, for a bail hearing.
Anyone who witnessed or has information related to the investigation, including dashcam footage or security video, is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-32322.
