PENTICTON - Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a carjacking in Penticton this morning.

Police responded to a call at around 9 a.m. today, June 20, from a woman reporting her vehicle was stolen from a Westminster Avenue parking lot by a man who threatened her with bear spray.

Officers were given a detailed description of the victim’s vehicle, which was later spotted being driven into Okanagan Falls.

Several officers responded to the area, including the RCMP helicopter and traffic services, according to an RCMP media release.

The suspects fled the vehicle upon seeing police. One suspect was arrested after being located running down a steep hill near Highway 97 and Main Street in Okanagan Falls.

With some assistance from the public the second suspect was captured on Cedar Street, without incident.

"Crimes such as this are not typical in Penticton, and are taken very seriously. Our officers, while working as a cohesive team, were able to quickly and safely capture those responsible.” Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in the release.
