Cowtown residents move into 'Big Brother' house

TORONTO - It looks like reality show junkies from Cowtown will figure heavily on the upcoming season of "Big Brother Canada."

Five of the 16 houseguests invited onto the Global reality series have some kind of tie to Calgary, with multiple contenders also coming from Toronto.

The show has announced its full list of houseguests for season 3, and not surprisingly they skew young — six are just 21- or 22-years-old, most of them students. At the older end of the spectrum are a 36-year-old Major League Baseball scout from Pitt Meadows, B.C. and a 41-year-old waitress from Toronto.

This season features a newly renovated "Big Brother Canada" set outfitted with cameras and microphones to capture every move as houseguests compete in a series of mental, physical and social challenges.

At stake is a grand prize of $100,000, a $25,000 gift card from The Brick, and a $10,000 trip.

The third season of "Big Brother Canada'" premieres Monday on Global. It airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

Also in the mix is a 31-year-old construction worker from Ottawa, a 22-year-old professional poker player from Grand Prairie, Alta., a 25-year-old pageant queen from Toronto and a 25-year-old plus-size model from Calgary.
