When five-year-old Ben Stelter was asked where in the Edmonton Oilers dressing room he wanted to sit, he went straight for the spot beside Connor McDavid – one of the greatest hockey players ever.
Stelter is undergoing treatment for a cancerous brain tumour and was invited to the game as a special guest.
McDavid told his team that Stelter was good luck in their 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on March 24.
Right-winger Zack Kassian spoke up to say that "Sometimes there’s things that happen in life that are bigger than sports. Benny you’re a true inspiration. Here you go buddy."
The boy was then dressed with a special vest and helmet before taking a photo with the team.
During a media interview, Stelter was asked who his favourite players are. Although he was sitting right beside Zach Hyman, he was quick to name McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
“No offence taken,” Hyman said with a laugh.
However, Stelter told reporters that Hyman played really good.
