THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - Warm weather, rain and snow are making for poor driving conditions on some area highways, especially Highway 1 from the Shuswap to the Alberta border.
Drive B.C. has issued a travel advisory for Highway 1 from Sicamous to Yoho National park as a storm system passes through the area today, Jan. 21, and tomorrow. The storm is bringing a mix of rain and snow and highway closures may be required for avalanche control.
Slushy sections, compact snow and slippery sections are being reported through that region of Highway 1 as well as Highway 5, Highway 97 and Highway 97C. Pooling water is also being reported in some areas along with falling ice on Highway 1 north of Hope.
In town temperatures are expected to stay above 0 Celsius through Friday with rain expected throughout the Okanagan tonight and tomorrow and a chance of rain in Kamloops Friday.
