TransLink increases services ahead of the busiest week of the year

BURNABY, B.C. - TransLink says it is increasing SkyTrain, bus, and SeaBus services in Metro Vancouver to help lower wait times, beginning Sept. 3.

CEO Kevin Desmond says the increases are being made to all three services at that same time as a result of spending from all levels of government.

Translink says it will add 24 new SkyTrain cars, 40,000 more bus hours annually and increase SeaBus capacity by 50 per cent.

In a news release, it says the funding for expanded transit services came from the first phase of a 10-year plan by the mayors' council and the provincial and federal governments.
