TransCanada acquires newly built Ottawa-area power plant from Canadian Solar

TORONTO - TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP) has acquired an additional new solar power generation facility in eastern Ontario, about 60 kilometres west of Ottawa.

The Mississippi Mills project near Pakenham has 10 megawatts of generating capacity.

The power plant was built for TransCanada by a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. (Nasdaq:CSIQ) of Guelph, Ont.

TransCanada has agreed to acquire a total nine solar power generation plants in Ontario from Canadian Solar Solutions Inc.

So far, the Calgary-based pipeline and power generation company has taken delivery of four of the solar plants, all in eastern Ontario.

Besides the Mississippi Mills solar park, TransCanada has acquired Brockville 1, Brockville 2 and the Burritts Rapids project in Ottawa.
