KELOWNA - Police arrested three men for suspicious activity in Kelowna last night, but RCMP have released few details about their alleged crimes.

Kelowna RCMP received a call at around 5:17 p.m. yesterday, April 17, from a concerned citizen about three suspicious men in a vehicle driving around the 700 block of Academy Way, according to an RCMP media release.

Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey said officers became concerned when they learned the occupants were concealing their identities and obstructing their license plate.

Police located the vehicle and took three men into custody without incident. Officers found a series of unknown items in the car they believed could have been used as weapons.

"RCMP have reason to believe that the three suspects had been prepared to carry out a criminal offence,” O’Donaghey said in the release.

A 20-year-old Kelowna man, an 18-year-old West Kelowna man and an 18-year-old Kelowna man were held in police custody overnight. RCMP say they face potential charges and were scheduled to appear in court today.

The nature of the suspects' suspicious activity, the items they carried and the charges they could face were not disclosed by police.

Any witnesses to to the incident are asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
