This weekend in the South Okanagan the hunt is on for wine, chocolate, cheese and Easter eggs

PENTICTON - Local wineries are making the search for wine, chocolate and cheese easy this weekend, while the search for Easter Eggs might prove more difficult.

Join Liquidity Winery for their third annual Easter Egg hunt this Saturday, April 15 from noon to 3 p.m. No tickets are needed, just show up between noon and 3 p.m. for a map and rules. The hunt takes place at 4720 Allendale Rd. Okanagan Falls

A more youth oriented Easter Fun Day and Egg Hunt takes place at LocoLanding in Penticton. The seventh annual egg hunt happens Easter Monday, April 17. Cost is $5, for the hunt, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to those 19 years and under. Bring your own basket. Hunt for Easter treats throughout Locolanding park and SS Sicamous, enjoy craft stations and an appearance by the Easter bunny on Monday. All proceeds go to OSNS Child Development Centre and you can RSVP on Locolanding event page.

Join the Many Hats Theatre Company for their newest play, “Self Help by Dummiez” at the Cannery Stage located at 1475 Fairview Rd. in Penticton. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23. Tickets are $19 to $22. Call 250-460-1842 or see the Many Hats website  for more information.

The Osoyoos Desert Society presents “Caribou” in the latest installment of it’s Movie and an Expert series at Watermark Beach Resort. Find out more about Canada’s caribou at this weekend’s event, taking place Saturday, April 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of entry is by donation.

The documentary “Empire of Dirt” screens at the Shatford Centre on Saturday, April 15 at 7 p.m. Reel Canada presents the 2013 Canadian film about a young, single First Nations mother struggling to bridge the generation gap with her daughter and her mother. A discussion led by Bob Nicholson will follow the screening. For more infornation call 250-770-7668.

Township 7 Vineyards pairs its award winning Merlot with chocolate and truffles from local chocolatier, Accent Chocolates on Friday, April 14, Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16 starting at 11 a.m. Cost is $8 at Township 7 Vineyards and Winery.

Painted Rock Winery hosts complementary “Art of Pairing” sessions on Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and April 16 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Painted Rock’s tasting room. Wines will be paired with gourmet cheese and charcuterie.

The Penticton Sikh Temple holds their first annual Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan starting with a parade from the Sikh Temple on Sunday, April 16 at noon. For more information, contact Rav Matharoo at 250-486-0452, or Pam Grewal at 250-493-8961.

The Cannery Brewing Co. plays host to Indestructable Johnny on Sunday, April 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring a friend to hear some local music, at no charge. For more information call 250-493-2723.
