LUMBY - Telus have confirmed cell service in the Lumby area is back up and running.

Telus confirmed to iNFOnews.ca in an email this afternoon, Aug. 13, that cell service was fully restored.

A Telus spokesperson told iNFOnews.ca an issue with the tower providing Lumby and the surrounding area with cell service had meant cell coverage was down in the area starting yesterday, Aug. 12.

"A technician is currently on route with a back-up generator and we anticipate service will be restored to all customers early this evening," Telus spokesperson Liz Sauvé said in a statement.

Sauvé said the outage had impacted Telus and Bell customers, and could not confirm whether other cell providers had also been impacted by the outage.

The spokesperson said the first priority was to restore service, and an investigation as to what caused the disruption will be started.

"We want to thank our customers for their patience. We understand how much our customers rely on our wireless services, and we want them to know our priority is to fully restore their service as soon as possible," Sauvé said.
