Thieves access Penticton liquor store through second floor

Penticton RCMP report a break-in at Three Gables Liquor Store on Martin Street after someone accessed the store through the second floor yesterday, March 27, 2017.

PENTICTON - There’s no telling what effort a thief or thieves will go to when committing a crime.

Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Ted Manchulenko says police were called to Three Gables Liquor Store yesterday, March 27, after reports of a break and enter.

He says someone went to great lengths to break into the store after first accessing the building’s second floor, which is currently unoccupied.

Floorboards were pried up and the suspect, or suspects, then jumped down through the ceiling tiles to the liquor store.

The store’s cigarette shelves were damaged and the stock ransacked during the break-in, Manchulenko says. Police are unsure at this time exactly what was taken.

Police are continuing their investigation this morning, March 28, as the manager continues to inventory losses.
