PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are advising people to lock their vehicles, and leave them empty, following the theft of a pickup truck.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup, license plate number KH2152, was stolen from a home on Ross Avenue sometime over the last four days. The owner reported it stolen to police yesterday, May 23.

A spare key had been left inside the vehicle, as well as a credit card.

More than $5,000 in purchases have since been made in Peachland and Kelowna with the stolen credit card as the thief made their way through the Okanagan, Wrigglesworth says. The latest purchase was made in Banff.

Wrigglesworth says people should avoid leaving valuables, spare keys and wallets in vehicles, especially if it is going to be unattended for some time.
