The Local Pizza Company That Could - Uncompromising Quality from Pizzamoreh

For those in the know, Kelowna’s delicious ready-to-bake Pizzamoreh (or Pizzamor’EH!) pizzas are an in-home culinary staple. For the uninitiated, the first thing you need to get past is picturing a ready-bake frozen pizza. The gourmet, premium-quality, cook-from-frozen pizzas from Pizzamoreh are not your typical pre-made pie; Pizzamoreh is creating next-level baked-at-home masterpieces.
Gourmet To Go
Historically speaking, pre-made frozen pizzas do not have a reputation for being gourmet. So, how was this gastronomic feat made possible? According to the mother-and-son team behind Pizzamoreh, the secret is something that goes into everything they do—love. The duo of Dax Guestross and his mother, Patricia Guest, don’t create the thin crust masterpieces to sell them; they genuinely love making them and sharing the delicious creations with customers.
This West Kelowna pizza sensation came into being out of a shared love of creating delicious pizza, and it didn’t take long for Dax and Patricia to spot a niche market—ready to bake gourmet pies. What started back in 2019 as a way to produce their 5-star gourmet pies for friends has since blossomed into a heart-warming Okanagan Valley and cross-BC success story, with more than 65 locations (and opening soon in Alberta).
“We are now at ten times our start-up production, with organized shifts allowing us to produce four hundred top-quality pies every day,” quips Dax. He is very proud of what he and his mom (known affectionately as ‘Momma Moreh’) have built. Dax is also very proud of their strict adherence to personal values; nothing is compromised in the making of the pizzas, from the finest quality ingredients to the perfect, wood-fired finish.
Top Quality Ingredients — Sourced Locally
From day one, Dax and Patricia made a top priority of using locally sourced, no-preservatives, delicious ingredients. The lengths they have gone to to meet that philosophy are impressive. “We have been able to source out top-quality BC products that make up 98% of our ingredients,” Dax says. The dynamic team is now proud to have earned the official “Buy BC” Certification label.
From the determination driving him, it’s clear that if he can figure out a way to get the remaining imports like artichokes, pineapple and olives locally, he will. Patricia and Dax, it seems, are not ones to give up easily. Their dedication has meant that Pizzamoreh is more than just a delicious product for the summer BBQ, family feast, or game night. The reason for building their pizzas around locally sourced products is not just based on good old Canadian pride; Dax wants to know that his pizzas represent the delicious flavours of the Okanagan. Patricia has played a key role in that, as she has over 40 years of experience and an extensive network within the BC food industry. Suppliers like Helmut’s Meats and Sausages and Bonanza Meats are happily able to meet the duo’s high standards; from great quality ingredients comes a great product.
“We want you to feel great after you eat our pizza, as well as while you eat our pizza,” Dax tells us, explaining why they spend so much time sourcing out premium ingredients. An example, he says, is the dough. Organic grains come milled from Rogers Foods in Armstrong, and Dax takes that premium flour to the next level by putting it through a slow-raising dough process that makes it lower in calories and easier to digest.
Bringing Gourmet Home - How it Works
Part of the secret to creating a gourmet pizza that bakes perfectly at home is the crust. After trial and error in the early stages before going commercial, Dax has perfected a thin-crust pizza that is bomb-proof—and outrageously delicious. Then that crust turns out beautifully - whether you are cooking the pizza in an air fryer, on a BBQ, or the conventional way—in a regular oven. Just take them out of the freezer and, as soon as your oven is at the right temperature, bake them directly from frozen and enjoy.
A top seller includes the Backyard BBQ Chicken, a combination thought up by one of the team members. This BBQ-inspired pie combines roasted chicken, jalapenos, spicy BBQ sauce, red peppers, onion, provolone and mozzarella. Another favourite is one of Dax’s creations, the AfterBiggy, which features a generous amount of pepperoni, Italian sausage, and bacon in its ingredients list.
Along with the dedicated staples on the menu, Dax and Patricia love testing out new varieties. The latest is a Jalapeno Popper Pizza, a creation that is flying off the shelves throughout BC. Pizzamoreh will soon be selling their gourmet dips and sauces to complement their much-loved pies. Zesty BBQ sauce and a range of hot sauces are a few examples.
Manufacturing happens at the team’s 2565 Main Street, West Kelowna location. They supply retailers right across BC from the Kootenays to the Lower Mainland, so chances are good that a Pizzamoreh pizza can be found in the frozen-food section of a store near you, just waiting for your next at-home pizza night. Check them out at Nature’s Fare, Farmer John’s Dairy, Lakeview Market, T-Bones, and many more. You can also find the Pizzamoreh team every Sunday at the Peachland Farmers Market. Try one tonight!
Besides creating gourmet pies, Dax loves supporting his community. Chances are good that you will see him at a charity event, giving away slices of piping-hot Pizzamoreh pies. This dedication to the community has most recently manifested in a school PAC program where their gift cards generate funds for school purchases - just one more way that the remarkable success story of Pizzamoreh is giving back to the community that supported them.
