The driver of a SUV was killed in a head-on collision with a logging truck on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Golden this morning.

Officers were called to the crash just before 7 a.m. today, June 15, on Highway 1 near Emerald Lake Road in Field, about 45 kilometres west of Golden, according to an RCMP media release.

The driver of the SUV was heading eastbound when they crossed the centre line and hit the westbound logging truck head-on.

The person behind the wheel of the SUV didn’t survive the crash, and the driver of the logging truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP are not releasing the identity of the driver who was killed.

“Investigators have determined that there was no criminality involved,” B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé said in the release.

Both Golden RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating.
