KAMLOOPS - A man is in custody after allegedly robbing the Double Tree hotel and a citizen in Kamloops late last night.

RCMP say at around 11:20 p.m. yesterday, May 28, the Double Tree hotel on St. Paul Street was robbed by a man who said he had a gun, although one was never seen. The suspect took off on foot.

A pedestrian flagged down an officer on route to the hotel robbery who stated he had just been robbed and police set up a perimeter, according to an RCMP media release.

A 39-year-old Kamloops man matched the description of the suspect in both robberies and was arrested without incident, police say. He didn't have a weapon on him and is previously known to police.

The stolen items were located close by and no one was injured during the robberies.
