KAMLOOPS – It may be unseasonably cold in Kamloops for the Family Day holiday, but at least it’s sunny.

Environment Canada is calling for a mainly sunny day in the Tournament Capital today, Feb. 12, with the mercury struggling to climb to -5 Celsius from an overnight low of around -16 C.

Some cloud is forecast to move in early this evening with a 30 per cent chance of flurries overnight, the wind east at 20 kilometres per hour gusting to 40 km/h and a low of -9.

We are in for a snowy day tomorrow with periods of snow beginning in the afternoon, a brisk wind out of the east and daytime high temperature of -3 C. The periods of snow will continue overnight with the temperature steady at around -3.

Forecasters at Environment Canada aren’t saying how much snow will accumulate tomorrow.

The rest of the week is a mixed bag when it comes to sunshine and cloud, but temperatures will moderate back toward normals for this time of year.

Wednesday is forecast to be cloudy with a high of 1 C, while Thursday should be sunny with the mercury climbing to 0 C.

It’s back to the cloud on Friday with a high of 2 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of 4 C and lows of -4 C.
