Summerlanders will spend another night without power

Main Street in Summerland at night.

Summerlanders have to prepare for a night with no power as part of another planned outage.

The next blackout is expected to last for seven hours beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, April 29, according to the District of Summerland.

The same reason has been given for the upcoming outage. Fortis B.C. is upgrading the transmission system.

Planned outages took place during the similar timeframes last year on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. During the evening of Oct. 15, there were two separate incidents of thieves attempting to steal trailers. Mailboxes were also broken into that night.

A group of citizens responded by patrolling the town on the night of Oct. 22.
