String quartet chamber musicians will perform 'Just So' at TRU Alumni Theatre

KAMLOOPS – The Sycamore String Quartet is set to perform at Thompson Rivers University Alumni Theatre for Kamloops Symphony’s third Chamber Music Series performance. The quartet is made up of Cvetozar Vutev, violin; Annette Dominik, violin; Ashley Kroecher, viola; and Martin Kratky, cello; with guest Alan Corbishley, baritone.

The quartet musicians are all regular players with the Kamloops Symphony.

Cvetozar Vutev has more than 25 years of violin teaching and performing experience. He has been the concertmaster of the Kamloops Symphony since September 2005. He is also a first violin player with the Okanagan Symphony and the concertmaster of the Opera Kelowna Orchestra.

Annette Dominik is a founding member of the Kamloops Symphony. While completing an honours B.A. in Romance Languages at UBC, she played with the UBC Orchestra, the Academy Strings and the Academy Orchestra. While studying in Quebec, she played with the Université Laval Orchestra and the Orchestre du Conservatoire before joining the Orchestre Symphonique de Lévis, where she was concertmaster during her final semester. She has been principal second violin of the KSO since 2006.

Ashley Kroecher is originally from North Vancouver. He has been performing and teaching in the Thompson Okanagan area for 11 years now. He is principal violist of the Kamloops Symphony and assistant principal violist of the Okanagan Symphony. Ashley holds degrees from UBC, as well as from the Musikhochschule in Trossingen, Germany.

Cellist Martin Krátky´ is currently the Kamloops Symphony's principal cellist; he also sits as assistant principal in the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of the University of Toronto and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Martin also took part in several summer residencies at the Banff Centre.

The quartet will perform pieces by Dvorak, Barber, and Prokofiev, with special guest Alan Corbishley, baritone joining the quartet for one piece.
