Strange sight prompts call to Vernon RCMP

Vernon RCMP

VERNON - Two men pulling a trailer with a quad on it by hand, late at night, drew some unwanted attention to themselves.

A good citizen noticed the unusual scene at 16 Street and 30 Avenue and tipped off police around 11:20 p.m. Friday.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says police went to the area and found the trailer with the quad on it at 16 Street and 32 Avenue. There was no sign of the two men who’d been dragging it.

“The police service dog unit was called in and they tracked the suspects to a set of tire tracks in the snow a short distance away. It appeared the suspects got in a vehicle and left the area,’’ Molendyk says.

Police set up containment and checked vehicles leaving the area. It wasn’t long before they netted two suspects, both 18, and arrested them. The two Vernon men are slated to appear in court Dec. 18 for theft.
