Stolen West Kelowna truck found torched in Vernon

VERNON - The RCMP is investigating after truck reported stolen from West Kelowna three weeks ago was found torched in Vernon.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release Vernon Fire Rescue Services responded to a vehicle on fire at 20 Street and 42 Avenue, Vernon, at around 12 a.m. June 13. When officers arrived fire crews had successfully extinguished the fire that destroyed a small Ford Ranger pick-up.

"Through further investigation, front line officers determined the truck was reported stolen out of West Kelowna on May 24," RCMP Const. Kelly Brett said in a media release. "The circumstances into the stolen vehicle and arson remains under investigation at this time. No one was injured as a result of the fire."

Police are asking anyone with information regarding this vehicle and fire to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171. Or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Or leaving an online tip at Crime Stoppers. Information that leads to an arrest,  could be eligible for a cash reward.
