Kelowna RCMP recovered $75,000 worth of stolen off-road vehicles during a drug bust last week.
A search warrant was executed at a residence on the 2800 block of Appaloosa Road last Friday, July 14, according to a release from the Kelowna RCMP. One resident was arrested upon arrival. Four others were released.
The search yielded several recreational vehicles – a Honda ATV and three Utility Task Vehicle: a 2023 Kawasaki Teryx, a 2018 Polaris Ranger and a 2013 Polaris Razor. Some of them had already been tampered with to make them harder to recover.
The vehicles have a combined value of $75,000 are believed to have been stolen from the Kelowna area over the past month. Two firearms and three ounces of methamphetamine were also seized by police.
“Many of these owners rely on these UTV vehicles for their livelihood and for others it is an expensive investment into their recreational pastime," RCMP Cpl. Tanguay said in the release.
A 30-year-old man has been released and is due in court at a future date.
The investigation is ongoing and a report still has to get submitted to the B.C. Prosecution Service before charges can be approved.
