TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,772.58 up 80.20 points):

Teranga Gold Corp. (TSX:TGZ) Miner. Up three cents, or 4.84 per cent, to 65 cents on 13.9 million shares.

Osisko Mining Corp. (TSX:OSK). Miner. Up two cents, or 0.32 per cent, to $6.25 on 8.6 million shares. The company says a hostile takeover bid by Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G) (down six cents, or 0.25 per cent, to $24.28 on 3.1 million shares) is "very low" and urged shareholders to hold off accepting the $2.6-billion offer until the board makes a recommendation.

Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (TSX:PRE). Oil and gas. Up 14 cents, or 0.79 per cent, to $17.89 on 5.5 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 17 cents, or 1.65 per cent, to $10.11 on 4.8 million shares.

Chaparral Gold Corp. (TSX:CHL). Miner. Up 3.5 cents, or 10 per cent, to 38.5 cents on 4.6 million shares.

Whitecap Resources Inc. (TSX:WCP). Oil and gas. Up seven cents, or 0.58 per cent, to $12.05 on 4.5 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (975.81 up 11.10 points):

Petrodorado Energy Ltd. (TSXV:PDQ). Oil and gas. Up one cent, or 22.22 per cent, to 5.5 cents on 3.9 million shares.

Alexander Energy Ltd. (TSXV:ALX). Oil and gas. Up one cent, or 1.30 per cent, to 78 cents on 3.9 million shares.

Magna International Inc. (TSX:MG). Auto parts maker. Up 98 cents, or 1.06 per cent, to $93.12 on 750,590 shares. Chief executive Don Walker says the company will be closing and consolidating some facilities as it moves to improve margins in Europe, which are well below those of operations elsewhere. Walker also said investors can expect that the company's recent pattern of annual dividend increases will continue.

Sears Canada Inc. (TSX:SCC). Retailer. Up one cent, or 0.08 per cent, to $12.91 on 41,642 shares. The department store chain says it has cut 283 jobs at warehouses across much of the country as it moves ahead with cost reductions. Sears Canada will also outsource its three customer call centres in Toronto, Montreal and Belleville, Ont., a decision that will eliminate 1,345 associate jobs over the next nine months.

TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Down 14 cents, or 0.29 per cent, to $48.12 on 1.1 million shares. Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird used the first day of a Washington visit to repeatedly call for a prompt decision on the Keystone XL pipeline, making public appearances with two pro-Keystone Democratic senators, who both expressed frustration with how long the administration has dragged out the decision.
