Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,747.52 up 118.11 points):

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up eight cents, or 3.60 per cent, to $2.30 on 7.48 million shares. The gold sector led TSX gainers as the February bullion contract in New York rose $17.50 to US$1,246.90 an ounce.

ViXS Systems Inc. (TSX:VXS). Technology. Up 35 cents, or 12.50 per cent, to $3.15 on 7.44 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation. Up 12 cents, or 2.73 per cent, to $4.51 on 7.2 million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Financial services. Up 10 cents, or 0.45 per cent, to $22.09 on 6.13 million shares.

Air Canada (TSX:AC.B). Airline. Up 41 cents, or 5.16 per cent, to $8.36 on 5.71 million shares.

Whitecap Resources Inc. (TSX:WCP). Oil and gas. Down eight cents, or 0.65 per cent, to $12.25 on 5.39 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (966.55 up 9.85 points):

TransGaming Inc. (TSXV:TNG). Technology. Down 4.5 cents, or 13.85 per cent, to 28 cents on 6.12 million shares.

Petroamerica Oil Corp. (TSXV:PTA). Oil and gas. Down one cent, or 2.90 per cent, to 33.5 cents on 4.14 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Mood Media Corp. (TSX:MM). Up four cents, or 5.26 per cent, to 80 cents on 50,587 shares. The company, a provider of scents and digital signs to the retail industry, is selling off its residential Latin American music division to Montreal-based Stingray Digital, owner of the Galaxie TV digital music service, for $16.3 million. The deal is part of an expanded supply agreement between the two companies for music.

SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSX:SNC). Engineering. Up 54 cents, or 1.11 per cent, to $49.28 on 254,818 shares. The Montreal-based engineering giant has been awarded an $87-million oil consulting contract in Colombia by the country's largest company.

Yellow Media (TSX:Y). Down three cents, or 0.13 per cent, to $22.35 on 49,306 shares. The publisher of the Yellow Pages print and online directories introduced its new chief executive, Julien Billot, who said he aims to get as many people as possible searching its online sites as it continues to move beyond print directories and become a digital company.
