Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,594.19 down 27.36 points):

Colossus Minerals Inc. (TSX:CSI). Miner. Down two cents, or 28.57 per cent, to five cents on 9.16 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up nine cents, or 4.13 per cent, to $2.27 on 3.28 million shares. The beaten-down gold sector soared 4.45 per cent as February bullion climbed $22.90 to US$1,225.20 an ounce.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX;ABX). Miner. Up 83 cents, or 4.44 per cent, to $19.54 on 3.12 million shares.

Teranga Gold Corp. (TSX:TGZ). Miner. Down two cents, or 3.77 per cent, to 51 cents on 2.82 million shares.

Bank of Nova Scotia (TSX:BNS). Financial services. Down 42 cents, or 0.63 per cent, at $66.01 on 2.72 million shares. The financials sector lost 0.6 per cent as investors took profits from a sector that rose more than 20 per cent last year.

Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G). Miner. Up $1.09, or 4.73 per cent, to $24.13 on 2.71 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (939.21 up 7.24 points):

Symbility Solutions Inc. (TSXV:SY). Down 12 cents, or 27.91 per cent, to 31 cents on 9.97 million shares.

Novus Energy Inc. (TSXV:NVS). Oil and gas. Unchanged at $1.17 on 4.25 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Up 31 cents, or 3.92 per cent, to $8.21 on 1.7 million shares. The smartphone maker is parting ways with singer Alicia Keys after a year-long collaboration. The Waterloo, Ont.,-based company says Keys will be leaving her role as its global creative director on Jan. 30.

Detour Gold Corp. (TSX:DGC). Miner. Up 46 cents, or 11.22 per cent, to $4.56 on 2.49 million shares. The company said it has finished repairs at its processing plant in northern Ontario and expects to resume operations Thursday. The gold miner said it hopes to operate at a rate of 50,000 tonnes per day within a week of the restart.

TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Down 16 cents, or 0.33 per cent, to $48.38 on 597,574 shares. The company has acquired an additional new solar power generation facility in eastern Ontario, about 60 kilometres west of Ottawa. The Mississippi Mills project near Pakenham has 10 megawatts of generating capacity.

WSP Global Inc. (TSX:WSP). Down $1.03, or 3.27 per cent, to $30.51 on 39,807 shares. The engineering firm known as Genivar Inc. starts the year with a new name and stock symbol as part of a previously announced reorganization. Genivar bought U.K.-based WSP Group PLC in mid-2012 for what was then the equivalent of C$442 million in cash — a move that broadened the company's base outside Canada and tripled its total revenue.
