TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:
Toronto Stock Exchange (13,125.70 up 11.31 points):
Moneta Porcupine Mines Inc. (TSX:ME). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 27.27 per cent, at seven cents on 12.82 million shares.
Southern Pacific Resource Corp. (TSX:STP). Oil and gas. Up 2.5 cents, or 17.86 per cent, at 16.5 cents on 7.12 million shares. The Calgary-based company announced Wednesday that it will undergo a strategic alternative review, which may include a sale, merger or other business combination.
Mercator Minerals Ltd. (TSX:ML). Miner. Up a penny, or 11.11 per cent, at 10 cents on 5.94 million shares. Intergeo MMC Ltd. announced Thursday that it will acquire Mercator. Financial terms were not disclosed but the move is seen as a way for the Russian company to gain a listing in Canada.
Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurance. Up 12 cents, or 0.61 per cent, at $19.65 on 5.16 million shares.
Victory Nickel Inc. (TSX:NI). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 60 per cent, at four cents on 4.52 million shares.
Toronto Venture Exchange (894.47 up 8.38 points):
Madalena Energy Inc. (TSXV:MVN). Oil and gas. Up nine cents, or 15.25 per cent, at 68 cents on 5.87 million shares.
Xmet Inc. (TSXV:XME). Mine exploration. Up 6.5 cents, or 81.25 per cent, at 14.5 cents on 5.56 million shares.

Chorus Aviation (TSX:CHR.B). Airline. Up a penny, or 0.25 per cent, at $3.97 on 214,414 shares. The parent company of regional airline Jazz Aviation signed a deal to form a joint venture aimed at providing spare parts and components to regional airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul companies. The business will initially focus on support for the Q400, but plans to expand to other regional aircraft types.
