Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,641.97 up 38.89 points):

Uranium One Inc. (TSX:UUU). Miner. Up two cents, or 0.72 per cent, at $2.78 on 17,025,539 shares. ARMZ, Uranium One's Russian majority shareholder, made a friendly $1.3 billion offer Monday to buy out minority shareholders and take the company private.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down eight cents, or 1.95 per cent, at $4.02 on 12,260,351 shares.

Research In Motion (TSX:RIM). Wireless technology. Down 43 cents, or 2.93 per cent, at $14.27 on 7,009,869 shares. The information technology sector led the decliners on the main index, slipping 1.05 per cent to 28.26 points as RIM gave back some of Monday's 10 per cent surge.

Eastern Platinum Ltd. (TSX:ELR). Miner. Up 3.5 cents, or 15.22 per cent, at 26.5 cents on 5,760,395 shares. Its stock got a boost after Anglo American Platinum, a rival South African producer, announced plans to downsize operations.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 27 cents, or 2.91 per cent, at $9.56 on 5,627,480 shares. The gold sector rose about 0.84 per cent to 296.63 points as the price of bullion jumped $14.50 to US$1,683.90 an ounce.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurer. Down 20 cents, or 1.40 per cent, at $14.12 on 5,447,372 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,231.79 up 2.26 points):

Metals Creek Resources Corp. (TSXV:MEK). Mineral explorer. Up half a cent, or 10 per cent, at 5.5 cents on 6,053,734 shares. The Toronto-based company reported its assay results from its Ogden gold project in Timmins, Ont. President and CEO Alexander Stares said he was "extremely encouraged by the grade, style and continuity of gold mineralization" at the zone.

ArPetrol Ltd. (TSXV:RPT). Oil and gas developer. Down four cents, or 2.90 per cent, at $1.34 on 5,436,339 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Corus Entertainment Inc. (TSX:CJR.B). Media and entertainment. Up 22 cents, or 0.91 per cent, at $24.45 on 244,729 shares. The entertainment and media company raised its dividend by more than six per cent as it reported higher first-quarter earnings.

The Cash Store Financial Services Inc. (TSX:CSF). Financial services provider. Down a penny, or 0.28 per cent, at $3.60 on 37,819 shares. The Edmonton-based company suspended its quarterly dividend after posting a sharp drop in fourth-quarter profit in late December.

Mullen Group Ltd. (TSX:MTL). Oilfield services and trucking. Up 23 cents, or 1.05 per cent, at $22.18 on 32,284 shares. The Okotoks, Alta.-based company hiked its annual dividend to $1.20 per share from $1 and said it would start paying it monthly instead of quarterly.
