Squatters removed from Kelowna shed

KELOWNA – A homeless couple were taken into police custody today for taking up residence in somebody’s storage shed.

RCMP say a homeowner in the 2200 block of Aberdeen Street reported a break and enter at around 8 a.m. today, Feb. 9.

“RCMP learned that the property owner first discovered the alleged break-in when he noticed the pad lock, which he used to secure his shed, had been cut off," Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release. "He then spotted an unknown individual, believed to be a male, still inside the building and peering out of one of the windows.”

Officers arrested a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both with no fixed address.

They remain in police custody at this time as RCMP continue to investigate.
