Spring cleaning starts on West Kelowna streets

Spring street sweeping is underway in the District of West Kelowna and the cleanup of sand and salt from the municipality's roads will continue until approximately mid-May.

Weather permitting, the program will run approximately eight weeks and progress as follows:

-  Westbank Centre
-  Lakeview Heights and Casa Loma
-  Boucherie Centre
-  Gellatly
-  Mission Hill/Sunnyside/Green Bay/Pritchard
-  Glenrosa and Smith Creek
-  Shannon Lake
-  Rose Valley and West Kelowna Estates
-  Industrial Park

Street sweeping generally starts in lower lying areas due to the greater likelihood of snow falling at higher elevation neighbourhoods in March.

Residents are asked to help with the cleaning process by parking vehicles off street while sweepers work in their neighbourhoods. Signs will be posted prior to street sweeping commencing in each area.

Please note that sand piles will be temporarily deposited in each neighbourhood during the street sweeping process and be removed as quickly as possible once cleaning is completed in that area. A map has been created to indicate the approximate sand piling locations. The map can be found at www.districtofwestkelowna.ca via the Spring Street Sweeping notice posted on the home page.

The District of West Kelowna thanks everyone for their patience while the municipality and its contractor work to complete spring street sweeping.
