KELOWNA - Police are searching for a man dressed in pink they say ran from officers, ditched his car with a handgun inside and then fled on foot in the Black Mountain area last night.
An officer tried to pull a vehicle over for excessive speeding on Highway 33 at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Tania Carroll says. The driver refused to stop and was able to escape.
A tip from the public led police to a similar vehicle Carroll says was abandoned on Lynrick Road. Investigators found a handgun inside the car.
Police say a witness saw a Caucasian man running away from the vehicle, which is registered to West Kelowna and had not been reported stolen.
The man is roughly six feet tall wearing jeans, a pink hoodie and carrying a handbag.
