Original Publication Date June 17, 2015 - 3:15 PM

WINNIPEG - A 15-year-old teen has been charged with mischief for allegedly running onto the field during a Women's World Cup match in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg police say it happened Tuesday during the match between Germany and Thailand.

The male teen is from Dufresne, Man. and has been released on a promise to appear.

Police say Winnipeg hosted seven matches of the world cup since June 8, with more than 85,000 fans from around the world turning out to support their favourite teams.

They say the alleged mischief was the only incident in all the matches.

Dufresne is about 40 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg.
