Winnipeg's Valour FC adds Tyler Attardo and Dylan Carreiro to CPL roster

Winnipeg's Valour FC has signed teenage forward Tyler Attardo and former Canadian youth international midfielder Dylan Carreiro.

The 17-year-old Attardo, who has played provincially for Manitoba, had two stints with Italian club Chievo Verona's residency academy program in 2016 and 2017-18, spending five months with the club on each occasion.

"Tyler is a player I know well and have been following his progress over the last few years," Valour FC coach and GM Rob Gale said in a statement.

"This will be an important step in his early professional soccer career," he added.

The Canadian Premier League club took Carreiro second overall from York University in the CPL-U-Sports draft last November.

The former Toronto FC academy member started at York after spending time with both Scotland's Dundee and England's Queens Park Rangers.

"We anticipated offering Dylan a contract, and after thorough scouting across the country at various levels, we felt that it should happen sooner rather than later," said Gale. "We want to give him that platform to get back to his previous level in professional soccer."

The two join Jordan Murrell, Skylar Thomas, Glenn Muenkat, Tyson Farago, Dylan Sacramento, Raphael Ohin, Raphael Garcia and English striker Stephen Hoyle on the Valour FC roster.

The Winnipeg club also took Lewis White and Jack Simpson in the U-Sports draft.

The Canadian Premier League is scheduled to kick off its inaugural season in late April.
