Calgary's Cavalry FC adds former England U-17 forward Jordan Brown to CPL roster

Calgary's Calvary FC has signed English striker Jordan Brown.

The 22-year-old, who came up through the Arsenal academy, has played for West Ham United and Germany's Hannover 96. Most recently he was with SC Znojmo FK in the Czech second tier.

Brown has represented England at the under-17 level.

"Jordan is a really exciting player for our club and the Canadian Premier League," Cavalry FC coach Tommy Wheeldon said in a statement. "He's had an excellent development path at some respected European clubs.

"As a young player in England's U-17 team, he was highly touted as one to watch for the future and we still believe that. He's the type of centre-forward we've been looking for, a difference maker that's young, pacy and clinical with his finishing."

Brown made his debut for West Ham in an Europa Cup game.

"I have really been lucky to be involved in some historic organizations, football teams and to play alongside some great players," said Brown. "I'm delighted to join such an ambitious organization as well as a new league that's striving to be great."

He joins Nik Ledgerwood, Serge Camargo, Chris Serban, Elijah Adekugbe, Marco Carducci, Dominick Zator, Oliver Minatel, Dean Northover, Nico Pasquotti, Carlos Patino and Niko Giantsopoulos on the Cavalry FC roster.

The team also has U-Sports prospects Gabriel Bitar, Joel Waterman and Easton Ongaro.

The seven-team CPL is scheduled to kick off in late April.
